Members run real industrial equipment. Here’s how training and checkouts work — and how insurance and liability work for individuals and companies.
Every membership starts with a safety orientation. Before you run any machine on your own, you complete a per-machine checkout with staff — a short sign-off that you know how to run that tool safely. Required personal protective equipment (eye, ear, and respiratory protection where applicable) is enforced, and the heaviest equipment is operator-checkout-only or staff-supervised.
Before using the floor, every member signs a liability waiver and assumption-of-risk agreement. Working with power tools and industrial machinery — a CNC mill, a MIG welder, lasers, woodworking equipment — carries inherent risk. The waiver sets out your responsibilities and the risks you accept when you work here.
Atlas Labs carries commercial general liability insurance for its premises and operations. Specific carrier and coverage limits will be finalized before opening and can be shared with company customers on request.
Individual members are encouraged to carry their own personal or renter’s insurance for their tools and projects. Company members may be required to carry their own general liability coverage, and, where a project calls for it, to name Atlas Labs as an additional insured.
Company customers who need a certificate of insurance on file — or need Atlas Labs named as an additional insured — can request one before signing. Email general@atlaslabs.build and we’ll route it to the right person.
Independent shop access is for adults (18 and over). Any supervised or youth programming will have its own rules, published before it starts.
Report any injury or near-miss to staff immediately so we can help and improve. First-aid supplies are on site. For emergencies, call 911.
